Project Coordinator (Full-time/19-Month Contract)

We are glad to announce that we are hiring a new full-time Project Coordinator to join our team from August 2019 to February 2021. The Project Coordinator will oversee two major projects: The Journal of Drama and Theatre Education in Asia (DaTEAsia) and the “Sing-Out” Musical Theatre research project (《奮青樂與路》品格教育音樂劇研究計劃) (commissioned by HKREP and funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust).


Job Description

  • The Journal of Drama and Theatre Education in Asia (DaTEAsia)
  • To communicate among the journal editors, editorial board members, contributing authors and reviewers;
  • To proofread and copy-edit submitted manuscripts;
  • To support and organize journal editorial meetings, record meeting minutes and handle related administrative documents;
  • To liaise with the journal designer and the publishing company, and oversee the logistical arrangements of the publishing of the journal;
  • To arrange deliveries of the publication to journal subscribers.


“Sing-Out” Musical Theatre Research Project (commissioned by HKREP and funded by Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust)

  • To communicate with the research team members (the Principal Investigator, Co-investigator, the research assistants) and the research partners (the HKREP and selected case schools) on a daily basis;
  • To conduct research interviews and field observations at the research sites;
  • To work closely with the Principal Investigator and Co-investigator in literature review, data analysis and the writing and publishing of research reports;
  • To coordinate research meetings and take minutes of the meetings;
  • To coordinate work tasks for and communicate with Case Researchers and Research Assistants;
  • To coordinate the dissemination of research findings.


Job Requirements

  • A permanent resident of Hong Kong SAR;
  • With a Hong Kong-recognized Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, majoring in cultural studies, cultural management, arts administration, arts research, applied drama/drama education, humanities or related disciplines;
  • Has excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese;
  • Proficiency in computer applications, such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and Chinese word-processing skill;
  • Can start the full-time position from August 2019.
  • Has a passion for humanities and qualitative research, applied theatre and drama education;
  • Can cooperate well in teams, but also be able to work independently, with good analytical and communication skills as well as a detail-minded work attitude;
  • Work experiences in project management, academic journal or qualitative research data compilation will be advantageous.


Terms of Appointment
Appointment will initially be made on a full-time fixed term 19-month contract with contract-end gratuity, potentially renewable subject to funding availability.

Research Assistant (Part-Time)

We are hiring 3 to 6 part-time research assistants on an hourly rate of HK$85 to assist with the process of qualitative data collection.


Job Description
  • To attend trainings and meetings (from August 2019 to March 2020)
  • To attend and assist focus groups (mainly during weekday school hours)
  • To summarize interview notes and field observations
  • To transcribe interviews
  • Other duties as assigned by the project leader
Applicants should be bachelor’s degree candidates with training in humanities research. They should have excellent English and Chinese (Cantonese) communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills, a great attention to detail, a strong sense of responsibility and capacity to work independently and in teams to assist in conducting high quality work, proficiency in computer applications (such as MS Word, Excel) as well as Chinese word-processing skill. Preference will be given to those with experience in qualitative research data collection and analysis process.
